AST awarded two STOC contracts
The U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI), headquartered in Orlando, FL, awarded the second STRI Omnibus Contract, known as STOC II, to 142 companies on January 27, 2009. STOC II, valued at $17.5 billion over the next 10 years, serves as an efficient contracting vehicle to quickly get simulation and training products and services into the hands of U.S. and coalition service members.
Advanced Systems Technology, Inc. (AST) was awarded two of the STOC contracts – one on the Small Business Set Aside portion and one on the Full and Open competition portion. AST will now be able to compete for all task orders placed on the STOC II contracts. The objectives of the STOC II contract include leveraging of programs and technology, preparing Warfighters to meet the challenges of the future while supporting the continued growth of live, virtual, and constructive training domains, and testing solutions to enhance the training capabilities of the Warfighter. AST has supported simulation systems managed by PEO STRI, one of our most valued customers, since 1992.
Direct management of AST assets in support of all PEO STRI activities including the STOC II contract is the responsibility of Dr. Robert (Bo) Terry, the Director of AST’s Southeast Regional Office, located in Orlando. In addition to the STOC II win, Dr. Terry has successfully increased AST staffing by over 70 new employees in the last eight months on another PEO STRI effort with subcontract work being performed at Fort Irwin, CA and Fort McCoy, WI.
In addition to the increased staffing in support of PEO STRI activities, AST is in the process of expanding our staffing on our Battle Command Staff Training (BCST) subcontract. The BCST effort consists of providing support for the scheduling, setup, and conduct of computer driven simulation exercises for Reserve Component battle staff personnel. The work is primarily conducted at five battle projection centers throughout the United States. AST has supported BCST for almost 10 years, over five as prime contractor. Since November 2008, we have added 12 new personnel, six each at Fort Dix, NJ and Camp Parks, CA, and we have just received approval to identify and be prepared to hire 6 new personnel at the Houston, TX site. These staff actions will result in raising our total personnel count working on the BCST subcontract to over 50.
